Statement of Faith
The following are the core beliefs of our church. We hold strongly to these doctrinal points because we see them clearly presented in Scripture which is the ultimate authority for all doctrine and practice.
1. The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without doctrinal, historical, or factual error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2. The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: that these are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
3. God the Father
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, and He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ
4. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, in His virgin birth, being fully man and fully God. We believe in his sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal, visible return to the earth at the end of time.
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe in God, the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, upon conversion, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
We believe that Satan is an evil spirit who is the present ruler of this world. He was defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary and will finally be banished to eternal torment by God at the end of the world. He is assisted in his purpose by fallen angels and demons.
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore under condemnation. We believe salvation is provided only through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. All those who repent of sin and believe in Him as savior are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. This saving faith is a gift of God (1 Cor. 1:30)
8. Priesthood of all Believers
We believe that each believer is a priest, granting him the privilege of a personal relationship with God and direct access through prayer and the Word of God. It imposes the obligations and privileges of:
•Living to the Glory of God
•Witnessing to his fellow men
•Blameless conduct and behavior
9. Christian Conduct
We believe that a Christian should live for the Glory of God and the well-being of his fellow men; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. This can only be realized though the wholeness achieved by the Holy Spirit.
The ordinances of the Gospel of Christ are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of water of a believer in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, which symbolizes the fact of regeneration. The Lord’s Supper is the sharing of bread and the cup in remembrance of His sacrificial love and redemptive power of the believer. The Lord’s Supper is the memorial of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:24-25)
11. Religious Liberty
We believe that every human being is directly accountable to God alone in matters of faith, and that each local church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority. Therefore, Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling it’s duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.
12. Second Coming & Resurrection
The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent. He will return in person and will be seen by all. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is the vital truth which gives incentive to holy living and faithful service. Jesus Christ will come again, take the believer to be with Him forever, judge the nations, and fill the earth with His glory and power. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal joy of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.
13. The Church
We believe in the universal church, a living, spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerate person are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Christ Jesus, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
